Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray has served alongside Democratic Governor Deval Patrick since he was first elected in 2006.

Murray chairs the Governor's Councils on Housing and Homelessness.The Committee released a report on how to end homelessness two years ago, although the initiative has struggled because of the economy and rising unemployment.

He also chairs the Governor’s Advisory Council on Veterans’ Services.

Murray served as interim governor for a few days in September 2009 when Governor Patrick was recovering from hip surgery.     

He previously served three terms as the mayor of Worcester.
