No holiday for politicians

It’s the 4th of July and for candidates in a hotly contested race like the one for the U.S. Senate here inMassachusetts, that means a day of parades.

For Democrat Elizabeth Warren and Republican Scott Brown, the day is filled with parade appearances in towns such as Plymouth and Wakefield.

Parades go with the territory for elected officials.

Governor Deval Patrick, marched in Pittsfield’s Fourth of July Parade, which isn’t far from his home in Richmond in the Berkshires.

Lt.Gov. Tim Murray, who was hospitalized for  heat exhaustion after marching in a number of parades last year, taking a different approach for this year’s 4th of July.

He appeared at a Navy Breakfast at the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestownand attended a ceremony aboard the USS WASP inSouth Boston.
