BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) — Controversy surrounding U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has prompted speculation about his possible replacement.
Governor Deval Patrick is known for being friendly with President Barack Obama, serving as co-chair of his re-election campaign.
Political pundits speaking to the Boston Herald speculate that if Obama wins re-election, he may consider Patrick a suitable replacement for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
Patrick has the relevant experience, he served as an assistant Attorney General during the Clinton Administration.
The prediction comes two weeks after Holder was held in contempt of Congress for failing to provide documents related to the "Fast and Furious" gun-tracking operation that allowed U.S. weapons into Mexico so they could be traced.
Robert Veres says, “I wish he would stay as governor because I think he's doing a terrific job here, but if he wants to move on, hey great, more power to him. ”
22News called the governor's office and they confirmed what Governor Patrick has insisted on multiple occasions.
That he intends to serve out the full length of his term and enter private industry after exiting his office in January 2015.
