BOSTON, Mass (AP) — U.S. Sen. Scott Brown has been promoted to colonel in the National Guard.
The Massachusetts Republican's colonel insignia were pinned to his uniform during a ceremony in Washington on Wednesday by Arizona senator and former Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Brown has been in the National Guard for more than three decades, most recently as a lieutenant colonel.
The Sun Chronicle ( http://bit.ly/Rd2XdF ) reports that Brown said it was "an honor to have the opportunity to serve."
Brown recently transferred from the
Massachusetts Army National Guard to a unit in
Maryland, allowing him to work at the
Pentagon.
