First Lady’s Pittsfield visit recalls Hillary’s stop there in ’98

Michelle Obama’s several fundraising stops in Western Massachusetts for her husband’s re-election campaign, recalls another First Lady’s visit to our area.

Former First Lady Hillary Clinton in Pittsfield
July, 1998

In July, 1998, Hillary Clinton visited Pittsfield as part of a four day bus tour to promote the “Help Save America’s Historic Treasures” campaign.

Her mission in Pittsfield was to promote the restoration of the Colonial Theater. Now 14 years later, the Colonial is one of the Mrs. Obama’s stops while she’s in Western Mass.

The First Lady will attend a fundraising reception at the Colonial Theater. Singer James Taylor will be performing at it.

And Mrs. Obama will wrap up her visit to our area with another fundraiser. This one a dinner at Gov. Deval Patrick’s home in Richmond.
