Can vice pres. choice change your vote?

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) — Mitt Romney's choice of Congressman Paul Ryan for his running mate has energized the presidential campaign.

A new poll shows 52 percent of voters nationwide disapprove of the job President Obama is doing.

But the voters we spoke to aren't convinced Mitt Romney's choice for vice president will help him get elected.

Olen Poellnitz told 22News may the best man win. It's still not certain if Mitt Romney's Vice Presidential choice of Paul Ryan will be a game changer in this year's elections.

According to a Rasmussen Report, a president's job approval rating is one of the best indicators for assessing his chances of re-election. 48 percent of voters say they approve of the president's job performance.

"If the Republicans help him you know help him pass some of these bills some of the things he has on the table maybe it will be better," said Poellnitz.

Some voters have already made their choice who they plan to vote for in November.

Jeanne Reese of Shelburne Falls says she doesn't feel Mr. Romney's ideas and politics is something she would vote for.

"I do think it is important to have clear distinction between the candidates so the voters can decide one way or the other," said Clayton Salem of Shelburne Falls.

A new poll show Mitt Romney attracting support from 47 percent of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns 44 percent. When the race is so close your VP choice does count.

Political Consultant Tony Cignoli say this pick was important for Mitt Romney. "He made a pick that's energetic that fires up the base, the conservative base certainly the tea party folks who think Romney was quite up to par for what they were looking for initially," said Cignoli.

44 percent of voters strongly disapprove of the Obama is performing as president.
