Fri is last day to register for primary

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) — If you want to vote in the state primary election, you only have one more day to register.

The deadline for registering to vote or switching your party affiliation is Friday, August 17. Registration will close statewide at 5:00 P.M., though there may be extended hours until 8:00 P.M. in some communities. Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin advises that you check with your local town clerk’s office.

If you need a registration form, you can print one out online at the website of the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Office. Forms must be printed out and brought signed to the town or city clerk’s office, or election department.

The state primary is on Thursday, September 6.

People who are unenrolled in a political party may vote in the primary of any one party of their choosing. Those who are enrolled in a party may only vote in their own party’s primary.
