GOP Convention in Tampa next week

The Republicans are going first.

The Republican National Convention is just about ready to roll. It begins next Monday, August 27th in Tampa, and will run thru Thursday, August 30th.

The delegates, 2,286 of them and 2,125 alternates will nominate Mitt Romney for President and Paul Ryan for Vice President.

Each evening, the delegates will attend the formal Convention session that features a lineup of speakers.

The Convention is being held at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Social media will definitely be playing a bigger role too than it did at the 2008 Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

This year the GOP is promoting its “Convention Without Walls”, a Facebook app that will allow users to follow the Convention proceedings from anywhere.

The Convention sessions will also be live streamed on YouTube.

You’ll also be able to follow the Convention on other popular social media sites like Twitter.

The Republican National Convention will be followed by the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 3-6.
