Neal launches re-election campaign

Congressman Richard Neal (D-Springfield) formally launched his bid for a 12th term in the U.S House of Representatives on Monday.

Speaking at Chicopee's Cavalier Restaurant before a crowd of supporters, Neal promised to continue to fight for issues that have been important to him, such as social security and Medicare.

Unopposed for several election cycles, this year Neal is facing a challenge from political newcomer Thomas Wesley (R-Hopedale).

Unhappiness about health care and the still-shaky economy have many analysts predicting that Republicans could take control of the House of Representatives in November. Democrats have been charging that the problems now facing the country were caused by Republicans; a sentiment Neal echoed Monday. "There are many challenges that confront America, it's a difficult time right now, but there's also a certain irony in that the people who set the fire are now the ones calling the fire department," he said.

With five weeks to go before the November election, Neal has already been running television ads.

In addition to his appearance in Chicopee Monday, Neal also made campaign stops in Southbridge and Milford.

thank you to Sharonnadeau for mentioning Mr. Neal's treatment of his wife. A friend of his wife informed me that he has had a mistress in D.C. for some time, and his wife recently threw him out, after police were called. I don't know if this is all true but many people have nodded and said.. oh, yes.. he's had a mistress... that PLUS teh fact he is a Pelosi lapdog and votes like her 98% of the time. He sells his votes to special interests and he buys the loyalties of Springfieldites with favors and pork. The pork comes from our tax dollars, and the favors can be done by any congressman, so if this elected representative of the people can't keep his marital vows neither should he be entrusted to keep his promises to the constituents that voted for him. I've met Tom Wesley and heard him speak. Even if I didn't distrust Neal, I'd vote for Wesley, he is amazingly qualified and we haven't seen somebody like that, and with his integrity, in a verrrry long time. I'm voting for Wesley and I certainly hope that WWLP gives him some fair coverage.!!

I have no respect for richie neal after the way I saw him treat his wife many years ago. He isn't a decent husband and is only concerned with his public image. He should be more of a human being before anything!!! And family should come first, mainly when there is issues at home that are important, more important then public life!

What has Ritchie done for us? Nothing. Just voted in lockstep with Obama's failed policies. And is helping him to destroy this country. Time to vote him OUT

It's time to give Neal the boot. He is a lousy and corrupt politician that can care less about the people.
