Singer songwriter James Taylor who lives here in Massachusetts will perform during the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Taylor, a five-time Grammy award winner and Rock and Role Hall of Fame inductee, will perform during the festivities leading up to President Obama’s nomination acceptance speech at the Bank of America Stadium on Thursday, September 5.
Taylor has been a long-time supporter of the President. Just last month, Taylor appeared at a fundraiser for the President at the Colonial Theater in Pittsfield, with Michelle Obama.
Taylor’s selection to perform at the Convention should go over well in North Carolina. Who can forget Taylor’s iconic “Carolina in my Mind.” Many people in North Carolina view the song as the state’s unofficial anthem.
It will be a homecoming for Taylor, who grew up in North Carolina.
Taylor’s also known for his annual summer performances at Tanglewood in Lenox.
