Patrick crisscrossing country for Obama

BOSTON (WWLP) — With the state Legislature on break, Governor Deval Patrick has been racking up some frequent flier miles for the Obama campaign.

The Governor spent Tuesday making public appearances for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in a key battleground state.

As co-chair of the campaign, Patrick traveled to Wisconsin, the home state of presumptive Republican vice-presidential nominee Congressman Paul Ryan. Patrick made stops in Madison and Milwaukee to talk about Massachusetts health care and Ryan’s budget proposal. He also wrote a column that appeared in an Iowa newspaper Monday that outlines his support for the president.

22News asked him about his thoughts on where the campaign stands. “There’s a lot of enthusiasm, I think people understand this is a, this is going to be a tight race, it’s going to be a hard fought race and nobody is taking any vote, any voter for granted,” Patrick said.

Patrick’s political action committee, Together PAC, raised more than $1 million through June 30 to finance his travels for Obama’s re-election efforts.

He has more out-of-state visits scheduled next week, and will speak at the Democratic National Convention, which takes place in Charlotte, North Carolina September 4-6.
