Patrick: I won't leave to join Obama Administration

BOSTON (WWLP) — Governor Deval Patrick played a key role in President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, and now there is a lot of speculation that he could take a position in the Obama Administration during the President’s second term.

Several media sources speculate that Patrick could be tapped to be the next U.S. Attorney General or a different member of President Obama’s cabinet.

Patrick himself insists that he will serve out his full second and final term as Governor of Massachusetts, which ends in two years. When asked, however, what role he will play in the President’s second term, he told 22News that he’ll do whatever he can.

“Any role I am asked to play so long as so long as I don’t have to leave my current job until I am finished,” Patrick said.

On Friday, Governor Patrick made a special social trip to Washington, D.C. to dine with President Obama.

Patrick is a close friend to the president and campaigned across the country on his behalf as co-chair of his re-election campaign.
